Do you want my opinion? Ok, I love Unearthed and I love Cartographer. I waited for this album, counting the days. Im seeing how you and others E.S. Posthumus fans write in Facebook sayin "Makara is great", "Awesome". My opinion? Makara sucks, is not E.S. Posthumus usual music, Makara stinks. Big deception.

I don't understand the hatred to this album!! It's like feeling the power of an awesome super being, only to dislike it to the rock bottom level! It doesn't make any sense!!

I kinda agree with the above. Though certainly without the vitriol...nor the abuse of caps lock. I think they have lost their identity. Unearthed was so d**ned unique - like nothing I've ever heard before. While Cartographer wasn't *quite* my taste, I appreciate the artistry...and it definitely had that ES sound. I actually grew to love it in time. But this, man, it just sounds like Hans Zimmer. And I hate to say it.
And maybe its just that I compare it to Unearthed. It's unfair to compare anything to Unearthed. That album was unfreakingbelievable. So maybe I'm just setting myself up for disappointment.
But if I was to forget that the brothers are the ones that did Unearthered...
The first half of the album was solid, IMO. The most disappointing tracks were the remixes of Bach and Beethoven. I've never liked it when people try to make ancient music sound contemporary. That's just me though, I think many people might like it. If they do it again, I think they should do something that more reflects their mood. Maybe Barber's Adagio.
But I'd put it slightly below Cartographer right now. And it should be said that I actually liked Makara more on first listen than I did Cartographer, so perhaps I will grow into liking it more.

This new album is not worth of buying, maybe 2 or 3 good songs on the CD. Rest of the songs are second class mixed orchestral/metal crap.

Josh, I don't understand the hate either. I thought it was average on my first listen, but I've since listened to it 5 or 6 times and I think it's almost on par with Unearthed. I just don't understand how anyone could hate it so much.
